It is a peaceful Christmas evening. The wood in the fireplace is cracking and laughs can be heard all around the room. It’s Christmas and the whole family is talking about their vacation plans and while he is listening, he gets a very weird expression on his face.
It was grandpa. He is begging my father to tell the rest of the family to visit him in the village and spend Christmas Eve together. My father is completely negative. Unfortunately, their relationship is not very close and they do not get in touch very often. Anyway, after this phone call, my father is really upset and he doesn’t feels like going on vacation with the rest of the family.
Two days later the phone rings again. My father picks it up and suddenly his face changes leaving him with his mouth open. The news is devastating… He is told that his father has passed away. As he spreads news to the rest of the family, everyone is silent and only breaths can be heard. The family must go to grandpa’s village immediately. So, they all decide together to instantly catch a plane and fly to the village.
As they land, they take a ride to the house. When the door opens, the living room is cold and empty, with silence taking over. As the whole family steps inside, tears are running from their eyes. Millions of memories come to their minds and they recall those beautiful Christmas moments that they had spent in this house with grandpa.
Suddenly, they hear a noise coming from the kitchen. As they go there, they see that the table is covered with warm food and drinks and a lot of presents on the floor. Out of nowhere, grandpa appears, wearing nice, clean clothes. Nobody can believe their eyes. He is alive, explaining that this was the only way to bring everybody together. They all instantly give him a big hug and fill him with love. Then they all sit down at the table to eat, with the kids are opening their gifts. After that Christmas they realize how important family is. It is obviously the best time of the year! So, don’t forget anyone and as long as you have time try to call them and celebrate with them. Don’t take your family for granted, show them love and affection and you will feel a sense of fulfillment deep inside of you! That’s the best Christmas present.
