Christmas Eve It was 1980. Christmas was approaching, everyone was waiting to celebrate. The roads in the small village were decorated with small colourful lights. The snow had covered almost everything. The kids were making a snowman and playing with snowballs. All the citizens of the beautiful village were happy; all except one family, Tom's family. It was a poor family. Tom's parents were unemployed.They tried to make ends meet but that was difficult. The only money they had was the pension that Tom's grandparents received. Tom,like, all the young children, wanted to celebrate Christmas.He wanted to decorate his house like all the others did. But he knew that his parents couldn't afford it, so he didn't complain. One day,he went out to cut a small plant and took it home. "This is the tree I always wanted", he said. He took it home and under that small plant, he put a letter. He wished to celebrate Christmas like all the others did. He kept wishing every night but Christmas Eve was approaching and still,his wish hadn't come true . It was finally Christmas Day and Tom went for a walk. When he returned home, everything was different.His house was decorated, he had everything he wanted. He even had a big tree with presents under it.Tom was shocked, his parents had made him the best surprise of his life. He asked them where had they got the money. His parents had decided to buy a lottery ticket.They had struck lucky and won 1.000.000 dollars. Their lives changed forever. Tom's wish came true.He celebrated Christmas the way he wanted. |
