Tommy picked up the present from under the Christmas tree. Who was it from?
His family was very big and they had this tradition to label their presents with their name and the name of the person it was for. This one had no label. He called his whole family, but no one claimed to have put it there.
His parents called the police to report a "break-in", but the police were busy. This wasn’t the first call they had had that day. Tommy saw an officer who had long, blond hair tied in a plait, which he thought was strange for their little town but he didn’t think any further about it. The important thing was to learn who had got him that present!
The police said the presents were safe to open and thought the break-ins were being made by some random guy trying to make fun of them. Tommy might have believed that answer but he wanted to find out exactly who did this. His present was a strange, arrow-head shaped rock with some symbols on it. He remembered that he had seen this rock in “Gary's Little Antique Shop” which he visited often. He had really wanted to buy it but it had been very expensive! He went to the shop and asked Gary who had bought the rock; he said it was a man with blond hair tied in a plait.
Tommy remembered the officer he had seen. He asked about his address from another policeman that he knew because he had found him drawing graffiti once. He then sent a “thank you letter” to the man with the blond hair. That was why he had to know, so he could thank whoever had given him that present.
The next day Tommy went to the officer himself, he wanted to ask him how and why did he give out all those presents. But he wasn't there, the police said he had disappeard, Tommy knew thoe, he knew that the man just left the town so the next year he could go somewhere else and give presents to children…
